SonicFill FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions

At what air pressure should the dental unit be set for SonicFill™?
The ideal air pressure is between 30-50 psi.
Can I use SonicFill on any air line within my operatory?
Yes, SonicFill can be used on any air line that has the proper pressure and is equipped with a MULTIflex coupler.

Will SonicFill work with any MULTIflex coupler?
Yes, SonicFill will work with any MULTIflex coupler.
Can I use an automated cleaning system such as QuattroCare with the SonicFill Handpiece?
Yes, SonicFill can be cleaned with automated systems. Please observe the manufacturer’s directions for use for the cleaning system, and review the handpiece directions for use regarding use of these systems.

If I don’t have an automated cleaning system, what type of maintenance should be done on the SonicFill Handpiece?
After disinfection, the handpiece should be cleaned using a brush under running water between uses. The SonicFill Handpiece Lubrication Spray should be used at least once weekly, after cleaning but before sterilization. Use of the QuattroCare system eliminates the need for the lubrication spray.
What products are recommended for manual disinfection of the SonicFill Handpiece?
Kerr recommends Cavicide or Caviwipes by TotalCare for disinfection.

Does the water need to be turned off on the dental unit when using SonicFill?
No. The o-ring on the MULTIflex coupler blocks the flow of water into the handpiece. If the o-ring is damaged, water may leak from the back of the handpiece, but the handpiece will not be damaged. This simply means that the o-ring on the coupler has worn and should be replaced.
Can I use other composites with the SonicFill Handpiece?
Only SonicFill Composite can be used with the SonicFill Handpiece. It is the only material that is specifically designed to react to the sonic energy, and is the only material available in the specially designed Unidose® tip.

How do I set the flow rate of the SonicFill handpiece?
The best way to control the flow rate of the SonicFill handpiece is by using the regulating ring at the base of the unit. Setting 5 is the fastest setting, while setting 1 is the lowest. For the first few uses, you may wish to use an intermediate speed (3) until you are familiar with the operation of the handpiece. After that, setting 5 will be appropriate for many restorations.
If my handpiece requires service, who should I contact?
Contact Kerr Customer Care at 800-537-7123. A customer service representative can arrange for service on the handpiece.
