SonicFill
Getting to know your SonicFill handpiece
- Dispensing nozzle is the correct geometry and shape to maximize the transfer of sonic energy from
the handpiece and provides easy dispending into posterior cavities.
- Composite is housed in this chamber. The dispensed volume is 20--30% higher than normal
composite single use tips.
- SonicFill Composite Unidose® Tips have red, protective covers over tip and composite chamber.
Before use remove protective covers by pulling them straight off without twisting.
- Plunger inside handpiece dispenses composite as sonic energy is applied.
- Dispensing rate can be selected with the regulating ring at base of and piece. 5 is the fastest
setting; 1 is the slowest.
- Handpiece is attached to air line on dental unit via any MULTIflex Coupling.
- Sonic energy is initiated inside the handpiece and transferred to the tip.
The SonicFill™ handpiece is air-driven and connects to dental units using a MULTIflex compatible coupling. The recommended operating pressure range is from 36-50 psi. The dispensing rate is selected by turning the regulating ring at the base of the handpiece. The dispensing rate range 1 through 5 only affects the flow rate of the composite - it does not change the composite viscosity.
Cleaning and Maintenance
The SonicFill™ Handpiece requires basic maintenance that includes cleaning after each use and a lubrication spray (such as the SonicFill Handpiece Lubrication Spray) once per week.
-
Automated cleaners, such as the QuattroCare can be used or it can be manually cleaned between uses. Automated cleaners from other manufacturers will work as well – see the Handpiece Directions for Use for more information.
-
The SonicFill Handpiece Lubrication Spray is available through all authorized Kerr dealers and should be used once weekly. The handpiece can be disinfected and sterilized like any other handpiece. However, it should never be submerged in cleaning (such as an ultrasonic bath) or sterilization fluid.
