Revolutionary U-40 Ultracapacitor Technology re-energizes to full power in under 40 seconds.

Kerr Demi Ultra is the first and only curing light powered by state-of-the-art ultracapacitor technology. Although ultracapacitors are similar in size and shape to traditional batteries, they work much differently—re-energizing in a matter of seconds, and maintaining their energy capacity year after year.

In practical terms, the U-40 Ultracapacitor-powered Demi Ultra is never more than 40 seconds away from being able to deliver 25 ten-second cures. In your practice, the Demi Ultra delivers convenience, efficiency, and reliability.

Low energy

Inside the U-40™ Ultracapacitor, ions float between two carbon-coated electrodes.



When an electrical current is applied to the plates (this occurs when the handpiece is in the dock), the ions accumulate on each plate, creating an electric field to power the curing light.

How does it do this?

C.U.R.E.™ Technology allows uniform depth of cure through its collimated beam and lower temperatures at the tip, resulting in:

  • More curing power at distance, making its efficacy less sensitive to the positioning of the tip,
  • Improved patient safety and comfort,
  • Reduced pulpal temperature rise, which can otherwise cause the incidence of pulpal inflammation and extended post op sensitivity, often blamed on other aspects of the restoration.

As soon as I learned of the existence of the new Demi Ultra curing light, I read up on it on the internet. I subsequently contacted my local Kerr representative, Mr Maurizio Zorzan. He was very helpful and came to the studio to present a practical demonstration so that I could see its merits for myself. I have been in possession of a Demi Ultra LED Ultracapacitor Curing Light System for a few weeks now and I'm really excited! I particularly like this lamp’s eye-catching and innovative design, its ease of use and the ability to check the intensity emitted by the radiometer – integrated into the base – at any time. In addition, I find Kerr’s patented pulse emission intensity system – Periodic Level Shifting (PLS) – to be very useful, and had already enjoyed its benefits in a previous Demi Ultra unit. The PLS system works without generating excessive heat, thus avoiding increased polymerisation contraction shock. Without a shadow of a doubt, what I like most about this lamp is its innovative ability to recharge in just 40 seconds! This has never been offered before by any other dental curing light. I consider it to be an indispensable tool; I use Demi Ultra during all of my direct conservative, indirect and orthodontic sessions, without any operational interruption. I highly recommend it to all my colleagues who are looking for a reliable curing light and, above all, a new concept.

I was asked to trial the new Kerr Demi Ultra by the PREP panel earlier this year. It was such a successful trial that I opted to purchase the unit straight away. I place a lot of adhesive restorations in my practice so I need a reliable light unit that will work for both me and my nurse. I had been using the Kerr Optilux halogen light for at least 10 years at it still out performed every light here at the practice during our test audits. The Demi Ultra was an instant success in my surgery. The unit feels secure in my hand during use with the tip easily rotating and well angled to allow access to all areas of the mouth. The dedicated sleeve to reduce contamination fits well. Of greatest benefit is the ability to cure shade A3 or lighter in 5 seconds and that the unit, after initial charging has a very quick charge up first thing in the morning and between cases. For peace of mind there is an in built light testing meter built into the charging base. I had to work in another surgery the other day and I felt I was working at snail’s pace when using the LED unit in there! I am the envy of my colleagues here now!
