With a number of innovative products at IDS and investing more than ever in research and development, Amir Aghdaei, Group Executive and President of Danaher’s Dental Platform, is leading KaVo Kerr and Nobel Biocare down a bold new path. In this interview, he discusses recent news and developments to offer readers insight into how these changes will help make the dental professional’s life easier and better.

The combining of KaVo Kerr is the evolution of what was previously known as KaVo Kerr Group, a global portfolio of 14+ leading dental brands. What does this mean for KaVo Kerr associates, dealer partners and dental professionals?

We have a prime example in what’s happening with our imaging brands. Gendex, Instrumentarium, Soredex and i-CAT are now under the KaVo brand umbrella. These brands worked side by side as part of KaVo Kerr Group, but are now able to share best practices and innovate, leveraging skills across the now technologically diverse company.

The same is true for KaVo Kerr. In addition to having some of the smartest minds in the industry sharing exceptional knowledge and experience, we can now offer a broader product portfolio to our customers and partners. This one stop shop for all consumable and equipment needs will make the ordering, purchasing, delivery and after-sales service simpler and better for our customers, partners and our associates.

We’ve seen the offerings for digital dentistry continue to expand across the industry. What do you see as the differentiator of KaVo Kerr and Nobel Biocare in an increasingly crowded field of solutions?

Our goal is to offer a broad set of integration and optimization tools and services. The first product to reflect this focus is DTX Studio, which we were excited to preview at this year’s IDS. DTX Studio is an integrated software platform covering all areas of modern dentistry and dental technology. The software combines imaging systems, intraoral scans and CAD/CAM solutions to provide an integrated workflow for the laboratory and dental practice. From endodontics, prosthetics, restorative to implants and other applications: The introduction of this intuitive solution creates a uniform basis for even more efficient workflows.

We are fortunate to have a proven track record of innovation, quality and reliability. Our customers know who we are and they trust us. We have every intention to build on our heritage and extend our offerings. With the combination of KaVo Kerr and Nobel Biocare we believe we have the right people, the right products and the right vision to build a strong foundation so we can continue to invest and innovate to our full potential in order to meet and exceed our customer’s expectations.
