Hands-on Course

Advanced Direct Restorative Procedures

Course Overview

This course aims to update the general practitioner on a variety of topics that affect the biological response, esthetics and longevity of composite restorations. Posterior composites will be discussed including different bonding protocols and restorative techniques. In addition, participants will gain insight into the management of large Class II that require cusp build-up, decision making between packable and bulk-fill composites and advanced matrix systems techniques as well as increasing your knowledge from materials and instrument selection, shade mapping, and techniques for highly esthetic anterior composite restorations in detail, to allow you as the practitioner to transform your patient’s smile in A SINGLE VISIT!

Objectives

Upon completion of this course the participant will:

  • Understand the different adhesive systems in the market and how to select them based on clinical situation

  • Implement the centripetal and successive cusp build-up technique for posterior composites

  • Become familiar with the mylar pull technique to develop ideal line angles incomposite veneers

  • Implement a sequential finishing and polishing to obtain natural texture and surface gloss

Hands-On

During the hands-on session participants will have the opportunity to restore a Class I and a composite veneer using a simplified restorative technique. Emphasis will be made in the improved handling and inherent opacity developed in Kerr’s SimpliShade™ restorative material.
